Specialty Workshops
Beginner – Intermediate
At 24hr Pottery, we love offering workshops that help everyone grow as artists and explore new ways of working with clay. Our workshops are designed for both beginners and those with prior ceramic experience. We keep each session small—up to 10 students,
so everyone has the opportunity for individual guidance.

Sarah Anderson: Sgraffito Workshop
Dive into the intricacies of surface design techniques—utilizing key elements and principles in clay—and learn about the nuances between underglaze and slip. Explore whether to glaze or leave the clay body unglazed, master clay work time control, and more.
This workshop welcomes all levels, from beginners to advanced. Materials, including carving tools, underglazes, and clay tiles, will be provided. You’re also encouraged to bring a piece that’s already thrown and trimmed at the leather-hard stage—perfect for carving!
Let us guide you in elevating your pottery skills to the next level.
Duration: 240-minutes

Throwing Off the Hump: Tiny Planters Edition
Learn the technique of throwing off the hump to create multiple small pots efficiently. This method saves time by eliminating the need to recenter each piece and allows you to work with a larger mound of clay. In this workshop, you’ll make 5-10 tiny pots or planters, perfect for succulents, saplings and starter plants this spring. Choose a glaze color for the rims, while the bases will remain unglazed for drainage to help prevent root rot.
A great skill to add to your wheel-throwing toolkit—join us in the studio and lets start creating!

Ceramic Pendants and Earrings
Design and create your own porcelain earrings and pendants in this hands-on workshop! Learn techniques for shaping lightweight, wearable pieces and explore surface decoration using our selection of Underglazes and Stroke & Coat glazes. You’ll also discover how to bend and attach nichrome wire for hanging pendants and receive tips on finishing your jewelry with various components and accessories.
No experience necessary—just bring your creativity!

Cake Mugs Workshop
Learn to decorate cylinders with vibrantly colored slip, infused with Mason stains, to create mugs that look just like frosted desserts! Experiment with piping techniques to add realistic textures and designs. Your mugs will be bisque fired and clear glazed, sealing the “frosting” for a functional, food-safe finish.
Just try not to take a bite out of your clayke mugs!

Choose between a leather-hard, pre-prepared cup or a wall plaque to decorate, and learn how to carve, layer, and bring your designs to life with color and contrast.
